Refugee and Immigration Conference @ CPC a success

 

On March 18th, Office of Diversity and Global Education and the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg sponsored and co-planned the first conference of its kind on Immigrants and Refugees in Central Pennsylvania region. The event was held in the Capital Blue Cross Theatre. The conference was part of the office’s community engagement initiative. The conference garnered students, Central Penn employees and diverse community members. The event included presentations from regional and global leaders on immigration and refugee issues. Participants had the opportunity to engage and hear the stories of people who were forced to leave their homes and have found safety in Central PA. The conference also included a screening of the acclaimed documentary “Salam Neighbor;” a documentary that shows the viewers the chronicles Syrians fleeing war and terror in the Middle East.
