From radio broadcasting to mentoring students, Mrs. Shaashawn Dial-Snowden has achieved many memorable life-changing moments. Her nickname “The Voyce” is a symbol of independency and expression that portrays how closed mouths won’t get fed. Mrs. Dial-Snowden is the goddess sent from above to teach others how to express themselves with confidence and knowledge. Her ambition and success is like no one else. Her achievements display her motto: “the sky is the limit.” Many know Mrs. Dial-Snowden as the Lead College Advisor & First Year Experience Coordinator at Central Penn College, but that’s not all that she wrote! The Central Pen received another media shout-out on Central Penn Live‘s Cheers/Jeers Opinion section. Here’s the blurb:
Considering the uneasy state of the printed word, now would seem the wrong time to launch a new publication. Writers at Central Penn College disagree. They are at work right now polishing up their new literary magazine The Central Pen and hope to roll their inaugural model on(to the showroom floor this fall. Curiously, small presses, micro-presses, ephemera and hand-posted screeds are everywhere and the more underground and obscure the better. A snap survey shows more than 150 small presses in English alone. With all this writing there must be reading. Nothing wrong with that.

The Central Pen received a media shout-out on Monday from Kari Larsen and the crew at Pennlive.com! The article features quotes from two students editors, Makula Fofana and Travis Wagerman, about what The Central Pen means to CPC, and your very own faculty advisors, Professors Maria James-Thiaw and Melissa Wehler, fill in some of the literary magazine’s history.
