Closer Look Weekend 2017

Amanda Paull, Associate Director of Admissions

Last weekend, the admissions team hosted 58 accepted students to experience our annual Closer Look Weekend. For Friday, the day started off with a warm welcome from Dr. Melissa Wehler and Dean Dave Baker – encouraging students to ask questions, get to know each other and take advantage of the opportunities at CPC. The students dispersed for some fun “getting to know you” activities like giant jenga, corn hole, the Marshmallow challenge and the residence life relay.

While the students were getting to know their future classmates, the parents were learning from campus departments like Career Services, Student Activities, the Education Foundation, Title XI, Residence Life and Security. During this time parents and guardians were also able to meet members of our financial aid team to ensure that they are completing their FAFSA and other financial aid documents in time for upcoming deadlines.

After the overnight guests met their student hosts and enjoyed a fun dinner – including walking tacos! – they enjoyed a lip sync battle in the Capital Blue Cross Theatre and s’mores in the Student Fellowship Area before heading off to Get Air in Harrisburg for a night of pizza, trampolines and great music.

Saturday, we welcomed our guests, student hosts and families back for another information session from the Library, Cultural Diversity Center, Counseling Services and Career Services.

Throughout the weekend, Nakia Page, admissions counselor, took part in an Instagram Takeover to highlight all the fun our students were having throughout the weekend! Check out the coverage @centralpenn.

We’d like to thank our #cpcfamily for making this enrollment event another success. The students and families truly appreciated the information those involved were able to share in such a personalized manner.
